Having been on hand and clearing her throat at Wigan last night, the Fat Lady has gone for a cup of tea, and will make her next appearance in Manchester.

just wish I knew who the “Fat Lady” was
You want the straight answer? Nobody really knows, although some say she is the Valkyrie Brunnhilde in Wagner’s Ring Cycle. The phrase ‘the opera ain’t over till the fat lady sings’ was first associated with baseball, and is attributed to a few people, but most commonly to a guy named Ralph Carpenter.
