    Good morning
    Your influence is required.
Isis Audio have 2 early Skinner books read by James available available but not released to Audible yet, I have emailed Audible for them to hopefully add sooner rather than later, being Skinner’s Rules and Skinner’s Ghosts. Will the books in between also be available at some time.
Special thanks as always for the pleasure you have brought to me and your many followers.
Have what I hope will be a kind year to you and yours

  8. December 30, 2012 at 2:24 pm

Some of the early titles need to bem re-recorded for download. Jim Bryce will have completed this very soon, and they will make their way on to Audible, etc in due course

I managed to get all nine books with Oz Blackstone but only three with Bob Skinner. And unfortunately no book with Primavera Blackstone. I guess I need to improve my English to read the original 🙂

      January 8, 2013 at 1:44 pm

I mean the first three books with Bob Skinner: Skinner’s Rules, Skinner’s Festival and Skinner’s Trail

      • January 8, 2013 at 2:09 pm

That’s very helpful, thank you. If you still have the books, can you tell me the name of the publisher of the Skinner books, and of the last four Blackstone titles?

Good evening Mr Jardine, please tell me there will be a further Bob Skinner book after
Hour of Darkness, and if so when will it be released.

      • November 10, 2015 at 8:58 am

Good morning Ms Watts. Last Resort was published in the UK in first format last April, and on July 28 in Canada. It will appear in paperback form in January in the UK and April in Canada. The ebook edition is available now for download.

Private Investigations, next year’s Skinner, will be available in hardback form in Canada next July, but should appear as an ebook in May.

Help in the book I am reading oz blackstone is dead, but in the last two books, I read he was alive. they were for the death of me and the loner.
so in what book did he die,???? I must have missed it.

    • June 13, 2013 at 12:11 am

First Oz was never anywhere near The Loner. He died off page, after I decided that I’d had enough of the guy.

Well that cleared up something for me too. I am enjoying primavera without the distraction of Oz books. Awful sentence hope you know what I mean.

Hi Quintin, Have just finished ‘The Loner’ – I thought it was a great story. I had been meaning to read it ages ago but having waited so long I’ve found it worth the wait. I’m now reading ‘As easy as murder’. Keep up the good work.

I have just finished ‘Pray for the dying’ after reading all 23 Skinner books one after the other this year and I’m hooked! Will there be a sequel or has Bob given up? I hope not but will now start the Oz Blackstone series and then Primavera. I’m addicted to your writing. Thank you so much for keeping me enthralled with all your characters. Sue

People often come out of retirement eg Rebus in today’s media. Any chance Primavera will be a copycat?

Is Murmuring the Judges available through Audible either .com or .co.uk? I’ve searched but cant find it? Love the Skinner series and particularly listening while on long drives..

    • January 7, 2015 at 12:41 pm

Good question. One that I am now asking myself. I’ll post the answer when I have it.

    January 8, 2015 at 12:30 pm

Thanks, I’m keen to listen to each book in the right sequence. Regards Pam

  28. Pam
    January 16, 2015 at 2:41 am

I think I’ve worked out why “Murmuring The Judges” isn’t on audible. I found an audio copy on iTunes so I bought that and downloaded to my iphone. The download is split into 2 sections with 10 partitions in each section to make the download easier. Within each partition there are 3-4 chapters from the book. There is an error in the sequence. At the end of section 1 the audio stops mid sentence in chapter 36. The first partition in section 2 starts at chapter 41 and ends at chapter 45. The second partition in section 2 continues the sentence from chapter 36 and finishes at the end of chapter 41. So it’s got mixed up. The third partition in section 2 starts at chapter 46 and on it goes in the correct sequence. I’d suggest Audible need to correct the sequence and make it available back on their website. Don’t know if you have any influence over ISIS or Audible to get this done. I’m enjoying the book about ¾ the way through.
    Regards Pam

Thanks to “on honeymoon with death”, have just had a L’Escala fix, was pining for the old place. A very pleasurable and entertaining way of revisiting in preparation for my holiday next month. Many thanks, Jenny

  35. June 16, 2015 at 1:41 pm

Thanks Jenny. The weather’s okay just now. Was very windy, then very hot, now tolerable in both respects.

  36. June 19, 2015 at 5:27 pm

I am HOOKED! Mr J, you are a treasure and the Bob Skinner books are a real joy. 3am when I finished Skinners Festival – couldn’t put it down. Please, how old is Bob Skinner in Skinners Rules and is there a biog of him (as Lee Child has done for Jack Reacher)?

  37. Jean Muir
    December 24, 2015 at 2:08 pm

    Hi Mr J
Are you writing a new Skinner book currently with Skinner in a new role as, perhaps a private investigator, following Last Resort? Have read all your Skinner books over time and have just introduced you to a new reader.

  38. Janet Pouso
    December 26, 2015 at 9:17 pm

Have read two Bob Skinner books, and one Primavera Blackstone. They help pass the time if there’s nothing else, but I’m reminded of ‘ The Famous Five’, but for adults. All the good guys are multi-talented, well-connected and of course, rich, thanks to their careers, their spouses’ careers and inheritances which turn up just when they’re needed! I’m going back to Nesbo, Gerritsson, Slaughter and Reichs.

    • December 27, 2015 at 8:20 am

Janet, like you I’m a person who speaks his mind. So …

You’re a patronising smart arse and you meant to put me down but you failed. If you set such narrow limits on your reading that’s your loss. If you think I’m going to feel diminished by even a backhanded comparison with one of the most successful authors of all time in any genre then you need to get out more.

Thanks for brightening my morning and have a happy, if limited 2016.

I have been reading your books for many years but I cannot remember why Harold Haddock is nicknamed ” sauce “. In the “last resort” you write– Harold Haddock, Sauce being his inevitable nickname.
    Please help

It’s a Scottish thing. There is a great divide in our society, and I don’t mean Rangers and Celtic. In the West of Scotland, ie Greater Glasgow and its environs, people put salt and vinegar on their fish suppers. In the East, ie Greater Edinburgh, they add salt and brown sauce. Hence Detective Sergeant Haddock’s inevitable nickname.

Just finished reading the new Skinner. Like the new Bob much better now he is showing more compassion but please don’t get rid of too many of the old characters become used to having them around. Loved the book as a whole and looking forward to the next one.

Thank you for Skinner series. I was not into books until I was given a copy of Skinner’s Rules. Now I have all the books written to date in the series and can’t wait to get the next. I have even started to re read the books and am in the process of creating time lines for all the characters. I can’t thank you enough. Thank you.

    • November 13, 2016 at 11:13 am

And thank you. Your time lines may prove to be very wavy, given that nobody ages in real time. Jimmy Proud actually grew younger in the first few books, because I wanted to keep him around for as long as I could.

I have read all Bob Skinner books on audio format up to No. 25. I have tried without success all audio book publishers to obtain Nos. 25 and 26 and hopefully to find the audio publisher of the forthcoming No. 27 but without success. I can get No. 27 (when released) on Audible but prefer either MP3 or audio CD formats. Where can I obtain these three titles in the non-download format?

    • February 20, 2017 at 3:27 pm

The publisher is Isis. I suggest you check its website to see what’s available.

Probably the best belly laugh I have had for years when the Menu are discussing Laceys pole dancing club. Re the stag night “he was on the next pole” I was lying on the bed reading and one of my cats was beside me when I started laughing it legged it rapido.
Thank you for some brilliant books.
