One law?

One small observation on the Andrew Mitchell affair. If he shouted the words he is alleged to have shouted at police officers, in an aggressive manner, why hasn’t he been charged?

Oh how true. As a former Police Officer, I was lamenting that fact. Apparently, alledgedly even, he called the officers f***ing plebs. In my day, he would have been arrested for a PO offence for the f**k bit. (there were tourists and juveniles around according to sources!). I’d have had ihim in the back of the van with other like-minded plebs!

I wonder about the precise terminology. There’s a short hop between ‘plebs’ and ‘plods’, enough room for reasonable doubt. The man has been a fool and must know it by now. We’ve heard all about him, but very little about the circumstances that led to the outburst. We need to know that too before sentence is handed down by the court of red-top opinion.
