World domination
It had to happen, I suppose. Goodreads, which did a decent, impartial job until now, has been bought by Amazon. Will this never end, until Jeff Bezos is revealed by Doctor Who to be a malign alien entity and is blasted into cosmic dust. Why do people get steamed up about Starbucks, who make a decent cup of filter coffee, hyet ignore the Kim Jong-un of the retail industry?
I’l try not to worry ’til he (jeff) gets nuclear!!
His next step will be to acquire North Korea.
Regardless of the tax ethics, where else can a country bumkin like me buy everything from a tin of cat food to a garrotte type saw to trim my goats’ horns with one click, at a knock down price (1.69 for the saw),and have it delivered?
Thanks, Brian-I,too, am a frequent order-er.
Make no mistake, folks, so am I, but that doesn’t mean I have to like Bezos or approve of his business practices. I could trot out many other comparative analogies but I won’t. If Amazon was Europe-based it would have been shat on by monopoly legislation long ago.
And amazon prices would be higher, so lets be thankful. If our wonderful government got hold of more money what would they do with it. Not improve our pensions that’s for sure. More likely increase overseas aid and fill the pockets of corrupt rulers around the globe – or am I straying from the point.
