This is how the members of the Honourable Company of Edinburgh Golfers, aka Muirfield, choose to enclose their course. That stuff isn’t a holdover from bygone times, it’s new and rust-free.
Why stop there, ladies and gentlemen? Razor wire would convey the message even more effectively.

I know a few Muirfield members and don’t recognise that description. My beef is with the barbed wire. It’s unnecessary and sends out the wrong message.
