Geoffrey?
In 15 minutes the England cricket team (such as it is 😉) will take the field against Afghanistan. There has been a debate about the game given the persecution of women in that country. The general view seems to be that a boycott would do nothing to help them, therefore it will go ahead.
But here’s a thought. If England brought in a couple of players from its women’s squad, wouldn’t that send a very clear message to the Taliban? (I doubt that it would weaken the side.)
Clueless
I’m a big fan of Death in Paradise, always have been. Nevertheless I am asking myself if the writers give a stuff whether or not the plots of the current series contain the faintest traces of logicality and common sense,
If they do, I haven’t spotted any. And I’m reasonably good at that sort of thing. File under taking the piss.
Unbalanced
I invested £20 in the Saudi boxing card last night. Before every fight the announcer made it clear that the event was being overseen by the British Boxing Board of Control.
If that’s so, how the hell did they allow a guy to fly in from Africa, arriving less than 24 hours before his fight, and get in the ring against a world level opponent? When Martin Bakole, the Coatbridge Congolese, finally stepped on a set of scales in Riyadh he weighed 22 and a half stone, and was clearly nowhere near the fitness level of his opponent. When he was knocked over by a glancing blow to the top of the head, he could only just heave his bulk off the ground and his trainer chucked the towel straight in.
No governing body should have permitted that, least of all one that may be the oldest and most respected on the planet. I guess that everything has its price, including integrity.
Mia
Today, Mia found my blog on this forum, announcing her birth. She told me that it almost made her cry. I went all the way, kid.
I told her that she’s lit up my life every day since then. She’ll be 15 in June, and she’s more guapa than ever.
Muppets
I watched the game on Sunday. As I said to my mate, Ronan O’Gara and Martin Johnson are the punditry equivalent of Stadler and Waldorf. Neither seemed to understand the effect of losing both Darcy Graham and Finn Russell. Had that collision not happened, it would have been and even game, and one that we could have nicked.
Repurposing

If there was ever an example of the middle man being cut out, surely this is it,
Thought for the day
How would it play if every nation on Trumsk’s hit list, ie all of them apart from Israel (because of its unique development opportunities), slapped a minimum 100% tariff on Tesla cars?
Would the special relationship survive that?
