It is’t essential that the Skinner books are read in order, Brian; each one should be accessible in its own right. But it probably helps.

It take away some of the suspense, however, if you don’t read them in order. My first Skinner book was around number 7 and I was disappointed on starting from Number 1 to realise that I knew so much about Skinner’s relationships ahead of time. So I always recommend friends to take them in order.

My memory has always been such that I can easily read a series out of order and still enjoy the heck out of it!

I’ve just recently come to discover the Bob Skinner books and have been devouring them as fast as I can – however my library in Kitchener, Ontario, Canada doesn’t seem to have the titles starting with Skinner’s ……and here’s a little factoid that will warm your heart Mr. Jardine, my scottish ancestry aside I’m actually starting to purchase these – but one other quirk of mine is that I will get a library book read and returned in good time whereas if I actually own a book (that doesn’t pertain to watercolour technique) it stays unread, being saved for that time when all other book sources dry up – but at my age I think I need to ditch that hoarding habit and get on with reading my very own books!

Thanks for some very great reading (haven’t yet been able to bring myself to the one where Stevie Steele – well you know – he and Maggie are favourite characters and I need to think awhile before reading it)
