Victor Meldrew

I do not believe it! Ten points out of twelve and ‘Well are still top of the league. Rangers next weekend; a trip to Slovenia then Fir Park. SuperAlly must be quaking in his boots.

    And long may it continue.

Getting ahead of ourselves here, but…..

It will just be your luck if ‘Well do a ‘ Hearts of 86’ and defying all the odds, stay just ahead of the pack until the very last game of the season, and on that final day get beaten and see all the dreams evaporate, as some other team steals the championship..

I must check and see who ‘Well are playing on the last day of the season…….

My late friend Wallace was chairman of the Jambos then. (I know, a name that lives in infamy for all Hibbies, but there’s a lot about that episode that never came out. If we ever meet up again, I’ll tell you about it, but not in this forum.) It was a case of lightning striking twice, for the same thing happened in 1965, when they lost the game and the league to Killie on the last day of the season.

Getting ahead of ourselves indeed, but . . .

Whatever Mad Vlad thinks, second is the outer limit of possibilities for any of the non Old Firm clubs, and possibly also for Rangers this year, but it will not be close, as Celtic demonstrated yesterday by humping Dundee United, a top four team, 5 — 1. Could be their biggest threat is an English Premier League side realising that when his anger management works, Neil Lennon is actually a very good manager.

If ‘Well finish third, I will be very happy, but at this stage of the season with a small, young squad, I’d take top six, just as Stuart McCall would take a point now from next Sunday if he was offered.
