Mike Seymour

Ah, the ‘Who should play Bob on telly?’ question. My current choice is Idris Elba. In the likely event of him being unavailable, Dominic West might come into the frame. Also, and becoming more of a possible the older he gets, is the brilliant Daniel Mays. As for the author you mention, no, I’m sorry, I’m not aware of any of his work.

How about Paul Nicholls now appearing in Law and Order UK – a very fanciable Bob Skinner.

Too young. Jamie Bamber, the guy he replaced, woul be likelier.

And…for an American fan of all Skinner tales, is there really a series/movie in the works? JJ

When someone offers me the right deal, there will be, but I’ve seen the Dark Side, and I won’t go there.

    Hello Quintin,

Huge fan, spent the last two years addictively reading Skinner chronologically. Thursday Legends being my favourite.

Funny you mention Elba and West for the TV Bob. In my mind, as he got older I always pictured fellow Wire alumni John Dorman (Superintendent Rawls) as Bob.

At some point I must watch The Wire all the way through.

Idris just won a Golden Globe for Luther. He may be priced out!
