Hat trick?

First it was Paul Scholes. Then it was Thierry Henry.

Since major events and cataclysms are said to come in threes, I’ve been thinking. It’s less than a year since I hung up my Adidas Sambas and took my name off the Thursday Legends player pool, after a stellar career of something like 35 years. I’m still in shape, I’ve been training with the reserves, so why the hell not?

Either that or I may follow Eric Cantona’s example, and run for President of Scotland.

An oldie no doubt, but as they day a goldie.

A few years back we were lucky enough to have Hibs legend Jimmy O’Rourke visiting us Hibs supporters down under.

I was there in Perth when at a function, Jimmy was asked from the floor the inevitable question…’How do you think the team from your era (Turnbull’sTornados of the 70’s ) would fare against the current lot.

Jimmy replied that he had been at a function in Edinburgh only recently and Pat Stanton had been asked that same question and Pat replied thát the team of the seventies would probably beat the current lot 1-0.

Mind you, Jimmy pointed out, you have to remember that most of us are in our sixties now!!

While it was said in jest, I’m just not sure if the 70’s team kitted themselves up just now that wouldn’t be true either!
