How are the mighty fallen
This is what our broadsheet journalism has come to. This is a non-story with no substance at all, as the reader comments make very clear. I must give up the Torygraph and switch to the Sun, where they seem to have a greater regard for truth and accuracy.
It really is quite scary what unscrupulous journalists get up to.
For example Headlines in Scottish Daily Express Saturday October 12th 2013
http://www.express.co.uk/news/uk/436109/Scotland-braced-for-worst-winter-in-decades.
The journalist quoted 2 sources, Vantage and Exacta Weather but when you go to the Vantage Weather Site.- no mention of this earth shattering news
http://vantageweatherservices.co.uk/index.html.
Go on the Exacta site however and what is the first thing you see.-
Well I’ll let you draw your own conclusion.
http://www.exactaweather.com/UK_Long_Range_Forecast.html
It was a Saturday story; the day the 24hour news cycle pauses to have its tyres reflated. Exacta sells its ultra long forecast. The piece was probably spun by its PR people. Question: if you buy it and the winter turns out to be bland, do you get your money back, plus a refund on the snow tyres you’ve bought for your car, and on your Cairngorms hotel booking when there turns out to be no snow?
If you look to the dailies for “truth and accuracy”, you maybe in an unending maze-at least in our country
So true. At least in the McCartney era it was only the commies that faced the bile and venom. Nowadays it appears it’s any poor sucker who raises his/her head above the parapet
