We have a little (?) dysfunction in our government here in Arizona but one good system regarding elected legislators’ pay-an independent commission suggests raises (if they think appropriate) and their suggestion goes TO THE BALLOT for public “comment”. That’s why Cameron etc are crapping themselves; they know what the public would do in that circumstance. For the record I’d pay MPs doubt what they’re on at the moment, with an extra £20k net of tax for those living outside commute distance from London. Travel to work costs but no other expenses.
