It’s out!
Yes, I know some shops have been selling it early, but this is the official publication day of Hour of Darkness, the twenty-fourth Bob Skinner novel.
Absolutely no spoilers, but this is a very significant chapter in the life of the guy who lives inside my head for half the year. I’ll be signing copies today in Costco, Edinburgh, at 2pm, and in Waterstone, Kirkcaldy from 7pm. Somewhere along the line I’ll get to eat too, or not, as the case may be.

Having pre-ordered Hour of Darkness in April 2014 on Google Play shop, I was decidedly narked this morning to receive an email that my order was cancelled because of a ‘problem’, especially as I have read every other Bob Skinner book. Any idea why it disappeared from Google Play store?
No, but maybe it shouldn’t have been there in the first place. I heard of this from someone else, who solved the problem by buying on Amazon.
Surprised to hear it shouldn’t have been there in first place! All of the other Bob Skinner series are there plus the Blackstone series. Like your good self, I am ages with you, a Motherwell born lad, went to the other High School, supported the ‘Mighty Well’ thro thick and a lot of thin, ex Glasgow University Board member and rubbish at snooker, travelled the world on business, emigrated to SE England years ago, and now re-educated in the Scottish vernacular thanks to your unbelievably wonderful literary skills. I’ll save up and get HoD from Amazon and look forward to your future offerings. Who knows, maybe now that I have retired early with all my marbles reasonably intact, I should take heart from your experience and have a go at writing a wee book myself. Thank you, too, for promoting the ‘Well, as who knows we might be the best of the rest again this week-end, Gavin H.
Name’s familiar, Gavin. What was your Primary School?
A big task at Pittodrie; ‘Well have a poor success rate travelling east.
Have just finished reading Hour of Darkness couldn’t put it down. I hope that there will be a sequel. Have been rereading all the Bob Skinner books in sequel while going to hospital with my husband daily for his radiotherapy treatment. Can’t think of a better way to use the hours. Thank-you.
Really enjoyed HoD.
I know I should have taken my time, but I couldn’t put it down. I do enjoy seeing the other characters grow and change as well and that we get to hear their thoughts on Skinner as well as his own.
