Sad

Finally it has come clean. The Scotsman newspaper has made a mockery of its own masthead by declaring itself on the side of Westminster.

In fact its stance has been clear from the outset of the campaign, and throughout that period its circulation has fallen inexorably, a so-called national newspaper selling fewer than 30,000 copies daily. In three years it is due to mark its bi-centenary. Will it survive that long? I doubt it.

By Brandon Bella, Kirk Road Kate, has The Scotsman really sealed it’s fate? ‘a cheils amang ye takin notes {please forgive the rusted quotes) an’ faith he’ll prent them’ so he said.Whatever was inside his head? For as sure as auld Cairns Kirk bell chimes, there’s got tae be a Motherwell Times – Hamilton Advertiser, Carluke Gazette none of them has ‘folded’ yet! Folk still buy their witty quips (if only tae wrap Onesti’s chips). So the Scotsman will go on it seems, despite the zenophobic schemes. Don’t crush the press or hush dissenters, lets keep our political tormentors – to stoke the fires twixt left and right – and mak siccur there is aye a fight!

All those will survive without the Scotsman.

Surely Murdoch could save it? With a name like that there must be some trace of the Kilt (sorry – Celt)!

I nearly used it but my editor yelled “NO YOU CAN’T” – I think that’s what he said!
