My wife and I wound up discussing Donald Trump last night over the dinner table. Her general view is that he’s preposterous. I don’t disagree with that but he’s no joke. The polls show him at the moment as the Republican Presidential candidate most likely to beat Hillary Clinton. If they stay that way, the nomination will be his.

And to think we feel our lot are a shower! It is interesting to reflect that one of the most effective leaders around is Angela Merkel. Now there’s one who even the late, great Mgt. T. might have fled from.
I doubt that. The best Merkel would have got against the Lady would have been a narrow points defeat. Any woman making it to the top in modern politics has to be special, but Maggie was a one-off.
I wouldn’t back either of them against the late Golda Meir who, to me, has always ranked very high over both male and female leaders. She led, not only as a woman out of her time, but during a very difficult and tumultuous era
