The darkness
I voted to leave the EU, because I believe it has outgrown itself. But I didn’t vote for the current shambles, the blame for which lies fairly and squarely with Theresa May. She should have gone the day after her defeat in the entirely unnecessary General Election that she called without the support of her party, but she didn’t. Instead she clung on dragging the nation down with her obstinacy and splitting it in two. The only reason she’s still barricaded in her bunker in Downing Street is that nobody in her party fancies clearing up the mess she’s made.
Quintin, Brexit is probably toughest challenge for a Uk PM since the Falklands, possibly WW2. TM has handled it remarkably well, despite not getting the solution everyone is happy with (as if such a solution exists)
Meanwhile in Scotland we have a FM who can’t get anything right, education, health, any devolved matter. In fact not even doing a good job of covering up for her predecessor and mentors behavioural weaknesses.
Yet you salute the latter and pillory the former. Hopefully you don’t take any of this as basis for future novels
See it differently on the other side of the world.
The whole ‘Leave’ sentiment appeared to me, and I emphasise that, to be built around a nostalgic 1960s vision of England, but failed to factor in the consequences of the decision in today’s global era.
Theresa May may just be simply another bumbling Tory PM, but think in the not so far away future the blame will be placed squarely on the shoulders of Johnny Foreigner, who the mob will claim, was their fault in the first place.
And to think that the British adult public actually believed the stuff written on the side of that big red bus……..
I couldn’t agree with you more. May has only listened to her civil service advisers and treated her electorate and party members with contempt. Her so called deal does not carry out the wishes of the leave voters in the referendum or fulfil the manifesto she fought on.
She is a liability and lost us precious time to be forging ahead independently.
