What are calcots???They look like large green onions.
No, they look more like leeks, but they were described to me once as ‘onions that have been in the ground for two years.’ This is the Wikipedia explanation:

Many thanks for this. I am now drooling, and longing to get home even more! They are absolutely delicious and well worth feeling a bit of a charlie in the bib (the American woman, as you say, finished up with a very small helping. You must not be too dainty with these)
